NCCE Latino Outreach Team
North Carolina Cooperative Extension's effort to effectively serve our state's burgeoning Latino population
To continue the progress we made as a team at our recent workshop, we have created a place to help us focus on the issues and work on program ideas. Below you will find seven clustered issues that were identified.
Please click on one or two of the posts that interest you below and make comments:
- (Support for learning/succeeding in a new culture - got 37 votes)
- (Cultural competencies [training for US Citizens and communities] - got 34 votes) = 71 votes combined
Considering these ideas where should we start?
Who else would you invite to work on this?

Cultural competency training for folks in Extension: I like what the UNC Center for International Understanding has to offer. Currently they are planning a training with Pitt, Greene and Wilson Counties culminating in a trip to Mexico in March 2008.
Also, I am pursuing the possibility of a regional training idea in collaboration with Extension in other southern region states.

The UNC Center for International Understanding did the same training and trip to Mexico here in Duplin County, my supervisor went, and it was of great benefit to her and, through her, to our program.
