NCCE Latino Outreach Team
North Carolina Cooperative Extension's effort to effectively serve our state's burgeoning Latino population
To continue the progress we made as a team at our recent workshop, we have created a place to help us focus on the issues and work on program ideas. Below you will find seven clustered issues that were identified.
Please click on one or two of the posts that interest you below and make comments:
- (Knowing the system [Courts and social agencies, Overcoming fears, Human rights] - got 64 votes)
- (Education [Help parents understand student rights] - got 26 votes)
- (Transportation [Driver’s license, bilingual access] - got 15 votes)
- (Resource manual [Local/Region and State] - got 9 votes) = 114 votes combined
Considering these ideas where should we start?
Who else would you invite to work on this?

I will speak with the MEOC about creating a focus group to assist the US Legal and Social Systems Workshop. We meet again in Kinston on August 21st at 10am at the Cooperative Extension. The meeting is open to anyone who would like to attend. Melissa Bailey 252-286-7064
Also, JR Peralta with AMEXCAN has offered some classing dealing with a few of these subjects. The classes are good, and they are mobile. Since it is through AMEXCAN, they can go anywhere you need them to do a presentation. He's always been willing to help me when I need it with workshops.
He can be contacted through Lenoir Community College or at the MEOC meetings every month.
